I039 150x150 About

Isa began her community college experience crying in the advising office, wondering where her life was going to go. She ended her community college experience crying at graduation after she had won the $110,000 Jack Kent Cooke scholarship. What happened in between is what inspired Isa to share her secrets of success to help students across the country break the cycles of poverty through education.

Isa is the first in her family to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree and has her Masters of Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her groundbreaking book Community College Success was published by NorLights Press in March of 2012 and is used in colleges across the country.

After working for three years as an Admissions Specialist and Student Life Coordinator at Seminole State College, Isa is now a full-time speaker, author, and consultant; she helps college students succeed through her blog CommunityCollegeSuccess.com, along with writing for national publications, making television appearances, and speaking to college students around the country.

She also hosts the innovative TV show The SKiNNY on College Success for TCC22 and consults with corporations who are also passionate about helping students succeed. She has worked with clients such as Pearson, helping their Student Relations team create their own student success blog, student success video series, and campaign to honor professors who have made a difference in students' lives.

Isa is a highly sought after speaker who inspires students to get involved outside of the classroom, find direction for their college career, and learn the secrets to connecting with others that Isa found vital to her own success.

"Isa appeared live at Finger Lakes Community College, and the event was streamed across the state. Rave reviews! Heartfelt and helpful, hers was just the right message delivered by just the right person. Here's one good measure: I looked around the packed performance hall as she spoke, and no students were texting. Amazing." – The late and great Bob Matson, FLCC

Isa has spoken at events such a New York State's College Completion Day, the American Association of Community College Annual Convention, and the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention. What higher ed professionals love most about Isa's programs is that their students come away from the event with a role model, renewed motivation to succeed in college, and proven strategies to help them find direction and success in their lives despite the obstacles they face.
